August 5, 2016 - - Cabot Trail - - ALL of It!

Off line I think most of today. Cabot Trail. Long day. Have a good one.

~~~~
About 11 hours. Almost 190 miles. Uncounted photos. Cabot Trail is pretty. The coast line is pretty. Pink stone/hills. Slow. Curvy. Hilly. We climbed to over 1500 feet then would drop to about 40 Feet.
Photos were posted the next day, but, here they are thanks to the magic of digital files.
Day started out nice, saw a lighthouse. Not sure which one. They all look alike here. LOL
Some fireweed, of course.
Coastline.
Yes ski lifts.
The BIG ole buildings with red roof, believe was a golf club.
Note beach. HUGE rocks then sand. I have to wonder which was brought in?
So many beautiful churches and cemeteries. LOTS of cemeteries. All but one cemetery have been well kept.
More coast line. And Sir W getting to stretch his legs.
Lunch break here.
Fun was had while waiting for Al's swordfish. I tried to capture waves breaking.
Note lighthouse.
Loved!!! That this fisherman was giving his kids raft rides. Made me giggle.
Lobster pot photos for Man.
More coastline. And lobster pots.
Also hit some mountains. 12% grades. Very curvy. Very slow. Low gears on truck. And these bikers. Yes. They end up pushing. Scary to us. There are times we had to stop or almost stop while waiting to see around steep curves. Some would ride 1/4 into the lane. Maybe on purpose. Make the traffic behind you wait? Personally we thought they were slightly crazy. That was some tough riding in Jolly. The last group were far from anyplace they could have stayed over night. And it was closing in on 5. Whew!!
View from the passenger side view mirror, sometimes looking back is a good thing.
All shoreline. This was on the west side of Cape Bretton. Reminded us somewhat of Oregon. Not as dramatic. Just as beautiful. Loved the red cast of the stone.
The light was changing and not very good for photos at this point.
On one of the mountains we went over, they say they can have 6 foot to 20 foot snow drifts. Sounds cold to me. Terrific winds, one time to get a photo, as I shoved door open against the wind, it took my hat right off.
We finished our stay here at Cape Bretton with lobster dinners. At a restaurant. The lobster was good and Man got to eat all the chowder and muscles he could eat. I hope he can sleep tonight. LOL
Gonna try to get an early start tomorrow. So, since the wifi has pretty much tanked again, I am gonna turn this thing off and call it a day.
And, that is a wrap - - -
